Culture and language
Communications, negotiations and understanding of business in the Mainland is a minefield for the uninitiated. Mistakes can be made inadvertently which can cause major setbacks for projects. Hong Kong people, many of whom have family ties with the Mainland, are attuned to the cultural nuances of their countrymen and relations, north of the border. Although English is becoming more widespread and higher quality, conversing in Chinese is still commonplace. Having native speakers can be invaluable.
